New York Baby Show This Weekend – I kid you not!

by on May 15th, 2012

NY Baby Show - Yup, I’m serious.

Who would’ve thunk it?

We have this show, that show, all sorts of shows…it was only time before the babies got their own show…especially since Snookie may have her baby ‘debut’ on TV (I heard it on the radio this morning – she may record her delivery…)

If you have time this weekend, come check out the games, speakers, vendors and activities that they’ve planned for this family experience.

Although I do not have any children of my own, I do plan on attending on Sunday. There are lots of ‘baby-tech’ gadgets out there, and strollers to be test-driven.

Oh and I can’t forget the nursery giveaway! If i win, I may just have to get a baby :)

For $12 discounted family tickets click here – sponsored by the Daily News.

Here’s their message:
The New York Baby Show, running 10AM to 4PM on May 19th & 20th at Pier 92, is a family-friendly event for new and expectant parents from the Tri-State area and beyond. Explore a mix of top products and services for maternity, baby and toddler, along with an inspiring menu of speakers and demonstrations from highly regarded and beloved figures in the world of parenting and pregnancy.

Favorite Website of the Week: UrbanGirlSquad.com

by on May 14th, 2012

Boy am I glad I live in NYC and it is not because of our attractive athletes or incredible shopping…it’s because of the opportunities that exist here, especially for women, created by women.

The Urban Girl Squad is an organization that strives to give women the opportunity to meet other women, while doing really cool out-of-your-ordinary activities. I loved the site because it says its networking without collecting business cards and actually CONNECTING. Sign me up! They have events tailored around food, music, dancing, physical fitness, fashion, networking, etc.

This FREE social network is for women in their 20′s (55%) and 30′s (40&), who are interested in sharing a key to the city with a bunch of cool women. While these are not requirements, many of the Urban Girls are single (82%) and have a college degree or higher (about 92%) – talk about the perfect group of ladies to want to meet!

I feel so lucky to have been introduced to this site – I am very much looking forward to meeting new ladies and experiencing some new things this wonderful city has to offer!

id America Calligraphic Leopard Case for iPhone 4-NINA CERTIFIED

by on May 7th, 2012

caseAs most of you know I am a royal but graceful klutz. My first E3 with cutegeek I had a sprained ankle and even then Radiris was worried I could injure myself further. Where am I going with this? I drop my iPhone 4 at least once a day so cases are crucial for my iPhone’s survival.I feel as though it says help every time it goes into my purse.

When I first got an email to review a Leopard case I immediately flashed back to the Dave Chappelle’s show skit “It’s Leopard.” I had no idea on the color they would ship or much about the case. I have utilizing cheap plastic cases that have not been cutting it. I was curious and when my purple leopard case from id America arrived I was impressed. IMG_2919

The texture is a rubberized coating on the outer shell of the case which improves grip but it also has a soft touch. The case is 19.95 on line and to be honest at first I thought who would pay for a case until I received this one. It comes with a lens wipe and protector as well and it was simple to snap on to my phone. I have dropped my phone, immersed in water by accident (not by choice),and left it in a hot car. I am convinced this case is not destructible. Cheers to id America for making a case that is truly Nina certified. Click here to purchase this case and stay tuned for E3 updates as it gets closer!

TSHIRT DESIGNI had t-shirts made on Vista Print for My Take Steps Walk I am doing and it literally took me under 30 minutes to design this from their pre-designed patterns. The pricing was reasonable and I was so impressed on how inexpensive and how cool the designs were. Re-ordering of the same design is also easy but will take 2 weeks for printing. Check out my design for the walk- all I did was import pictures and simple text…the rest was a breeze!

Stay tuned for picture of us in our fancy Vista Print shirts!

iPhone 4 Fav Apps

by on May 1st, 2012

I have been busy fund raising for the CCFA walk in San Francisco 6/9 and became a team captain. This is why I heart the iPhone 4; I have a funding raising tool app for my walk Team Nina’s Nincompoops through the Take Steps mobile app. It keeps me updated and organized for the walk!

I ended up downloading the MS Messenger due to the fact I have had a hotmail account since 1997…yeah that ages me but no matter how much I try to get rid of it people know me from it therefore I downloaded the MS Messenger app and I use it daily since I forward all emails to that account anyhow…Why I have no idea…Loyalty?

It’s baseball season and well LET’S GO GIANTS! I got the MLB iPhone App so I can keep tabs on my boys the SF Giants because we need to win! Admittedly after I watched Moneyball I have a soft spot for the Oakland A’s so if the Giants aren’t playing I am watching them. This app keeps me in the know of the games and also quickly lets me buy tickets. Again where was I before the iPhone Apps?!

Ringtones app is another one I love and makes me chuckle daily. I swear the free ringtones alone will entertain you for hours or maybe just me…I’ve gone Robin Hood style on my ringtones as I would refer to it. Each tone has a trumpet or horn that expresses the importance of the text, email or facebook post.

I recently sent one of my pals a pimp-my-text message and I think I blew her mind! Another fun free App to utilize to through anyone off or surprise someone!

Get the Evite app! No explanation needed! If you ask you then you don’t know. I did my first yelp post from my iPhone as well for a local restaurant and felt pretty cool.

Please inform me of any apps you think I would enjoy to test out.

The Power of Technology & Your Social Network

by on May 1st, 2012

I’m not sure how fast the news spreads across the country or world, but this past weekend NYC suffered a terrible accident. A minivan with 7 passengers, 3 generations of a Dominican family died in a car crash in the Bronx. As a Dominican American – my network consists of many Latinos, many college graduates and many people who share newsworthy articles and links – so anything affecting Dominicans comes my way, one way or another.

Happy 42nd Earth Day

by on April 22nd, 2012

If anyone is near the Big Apple – you may be wondering if Mother Earth is crying her eyes out, or crying tears of joy today.

Today marks the 42nd year that Earth Day is celebrated. While some argue that we should make everyday Earth Day, it is still a nice reminder to have this one day to show us things that we can do.

As of today, Philips has started selling their 10 Watt L Prize-Pro LED A19 Dimmable 2700k light bulb – expected to last over 20 years, save money and a lot of energy consumption. The price of the bulb will vary by location because many utilities are providing rebates and Home Depot is currently selling it for only $49.97

Last week, at Pepcom’s Annual EcoFocus event, I met a lot of new companies that are striving to improve and encourage sustainability amongst all ages. An interesting, and very fun campaign is ‘Littering is Wrong Too’. This campaign is highlighting wrongs that we’re all aware of (like drunk texting…that was the ‘wrong’ that I contributed). It is a very fun way to help keep America beautiful by understanding and acknowledging that littering is wrong.

The wonderful city that I live in, aka the Big Apple, has a lot of different initiatives going on, helping us become more green and some have started saying we’re going to be the Big Granny Smith :) get it??

Happy Earth Day everyone…and in Barney’s voice…clean up, clean up, everybody, everywhere…clean up, clean up, everybody do your share.

Nina’s fav free iPhone 4 apps this week…

by on April 18th, 2012

I went to play in the apple app store again before my trip to LA and downloaded every free app I could find to occupy my long drive to LA. I have always been able to make myself laugh at my own imagination however owning an iPhone 4 has enlightened my entertainment horizons.

First why the heck was I driving to LA? Last minute trip to see my cousin’s band Schwarzenator play at the Viper room. As any reasonable techy I downloaded Kayak and started checking out flights and also hotel deals. In minutes I had results and realized driving was my only option due to poor planning (totally my fault). I loved how quickly the Kayak app worked and also schooled me…j/k. Continue Reading…
